Effective Interpersonal Skills


Module Overview

This 1-day intensive interpersonal skills training course will speak to the human dynamics of the workplace: how interpersonal behaviours act as the ‘secret weapon’ to achieving high-performance.

These are deconstructed through scientific analysis into an array of essential behavioural skills we collectively refer to as the leadership competency framework (LCF).

Psychological aspects of human effectiveness, underpinning our cognitive and emotional states, will be presented and well-proven skills and techniques explained, discussed and exercised in a monitored environment – with a strong emphasis on action learning.

The take-away for participants will be a portfolio of tactical advice and real-world practice to develop the key interpersonal skills to better manage themselves and others

Link to the various personality “types” amid your team & stakeholder cohort – advancing a more positive work atmosphere.

Communication Skills
Calibrate your interaction with others based on the person & the situation.

Empathy & Listening
Diagnose your own listening style. Extend to non-verbal cues.

Situational Leadership
Learn and apply a model for varying your communications appropriately – in directing, coaching, supporting & delegating.

Assertiveness
Understand what assertiveness really means & how to facilitate a similar style of response from others.

Feedback
Appreciate the developmental role. Contrast models: positive/reinforcing vs. negative/counterproductive types.

Influence & Persuasion
Apply and defend against the 6 universal principles of influence – anchored to a 4-step persuasion model.

Stress & Anger Management
Personalize some stress-resilient & impulse control techniques to manage irritation & anger.

Personal Plan
Develop a personal communication, assertiveness & conflict management plan to carry forward post module.
