What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to what is happening in the present moment, without thinking about past or future. It is characterised by an attitude of kindness to yourself, others and the world around you

The practice of mindfulness originated in Eastern meditation traditions over two thousand years ago and has been adapted by Jon Kabat-Zinn (Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center) and others for use in secular contexts.

Recent years of research have confirmed a powerful impact of Mindfulness on effectiveness and happiness levels, on resilience and wellbeing. It is now widely taught and practiced in business, education and sport as well as in the physical and mental health contexts.
