Many companies across Ireland have benefited from and acknowledged effectiveness of Torc’s Mindfulness at Work programmes.

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to what is happening in the present moment, without thinking about past or future. It is characterised by an attitude of kindness to yourself, others and the world around you

The practice of mindfulness originated in Eastern meditation traditions over two thousand years ago and has been adapted by Jon Kabat-Zinn (Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center) and others for use in secular contexts.

Recent years of research have confirmed a powerful impact of Mindfulness on effectiveness and happiness levels, on resilience and wellbeing. It is now widely taught and practiced in business, education and sport as well as in the physical and mental health contexts.

An increasing number of the world’s most successful organisations have been introducing Mindfulness training for their employees to help them consciously and effectively deal with everyday stress and workplace challenges.

What are the main benefits of introducing and practising Mindfulness at Work?
  • Boosted optimism & improved wellbeing
  • Clearer thinking
  • More awareness of personal stress and ways of preventing & managing it
  • Increased stability and resilience in challenging situations & during periods of change
  • More effective communication and interpersonal relationships
  • Improved ability to address conflict
  • Stronger leadership skills
  • Greater teamwork
  • Enhanced productivity and personal effectiveness

“Mindfulness should no longer be considered a ‘nice-to-have’ for executives. It’s a ‘must-have’: a way to keep our brains healthy, to support self-regulation and effective decision making capabilities, and to protect ourselves from toxic stress.“ (Harvard Business Review, 2015)

In line with this scientifically supported worldwide movement we deliver numerous Mindfulness at Workplace solutions in the form of Workshops, Seminars, Masterclasses, Lunchtime Talks and One-to-One Coaching.
