Employers, along with assisting recruitment consultants, should start thinking of attuning their organisational brands to the new trends and tendencies shaping the workforce.

Generation Z (Gen Z) are people born between 1995 and 2010 who succeed the generation of Millennials (Gen Y). With a strong education background and a natural digital drive Gen Zs are starting to enter the employment world and earning their own income. Gen Zs have a unique chance to embark on their careers at a time of Irish economical buoyancy and optimism.
What do we know about Gen Z’s values, goals and expectations?
Universum, the employer brand specialist, have carried out research in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland among nearly 11,000 third-level education graduates across engineering, humanities, IT, business, medicine, social sciences and law.
The research findings indicate that, out of the most important career goals, the major part of Gen Z representatives clearly prioritize work-life balance. Job security, promotion opportunities, ability to be creative and having sense of purpose only follow after.
WIKIPEDIA: Work–life balance is the lack of opposition between work and other life roles. It is the state of equilibrium in which demands of personal life, professional life, and family life are equal.
With a currently very low unemployment rate in Ireland, the employers aspiring to attract young talented graduates should consider going the extra mile and create a professional environment that recognises the core values of Gen Z.
It is understandable that not all businesses are in a position to easily meet the expectations, but any effort to wisely implement flexible working hours and remote working solutions will definitely be greatly appreciated and mutually beneficial.
Furthermore, when it comes to remuneration, Gen Zs overall expect a salary up to 4% higher than their Gen Y counterparts, according to the research.
With all that being said and considered, employers and recruitment consultants shall not overlook the importance of providing job security, clear progression paths, sense of purpose and space for creativity which still are of major significance!
