by Izabela Turek on May 5th, 2015The positive effects of employee engagement on business performance have been well documented. More recent research suggests that for employees to be “sustainably” engaged, three components are essential – engagement; being enabled to do the job effectively by having the appropriate resources and support; and having a work environment that actively supports physical, emotional and interpersonal well-being.
Being more skilled at working with your mind and mental states means that things go better for you, your organization, your colleagues, clients, family and friends.
Mindfulness training is one of the most effective means available to achieve this.
What is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is a way of paying attention in the present moment, to yourself, others and the world around you. The practice of mindfulness originated in Eastern meditation traditions over two thousand years ago and has been adapted by Jon Kabat-Zinn and others for use in secular contexts. Mindfulness is now widely taught in business, education, sport and physical and mental health contexts.
What is Resilience?
Recent years have seen an increased focus on well-being, with organisations now recognising the connection between well-being and workforce effectiveness, and putting in place strategies and programmes aimed at increasing both personal well-being and resilience.
Resilience can sometimes be thought of in the analogy of a spring. Up to a certain point you can pull a spring apart (putting it under stress) and it will return to exactly its original shape once the pressure has been removed. But, pull too far apart and the spring becomes bent and out of shape, loses its resilience and no longer has the capacity to return to its former state. This is true for systems, organisations and individuals.
Our support to organizations and individuals includes short ‘Taster’ sessions, Workshops and 1 to 1 Coaching – all designed to meet your specific needs.
