Microsoft's New CEO, Satya Nadella, launches Office for iPad

Well, Microsoft finally bowed to pressure – releasing an Office for iPad version on March 27th.

The full version costs €99.99 per annum – which buys you access across 5 PC’s & 5 tablets – as well as giving you an extra 20GB of cloud storage on Microsoft OneDrive (formerly known as SkyDrive).

Uploading/downloading to & from OneDrive is one of the two ways available to access or share documents produced.

The second way to get one’s documents on/off one’s iPad is, of course, via email.

This Mobile Office App provides fully featured versions of Word, Excel & Powerpoint designed specifically for the iPad – with no need for a keyboard or mouse.

The iPad version of Excel has its own custom keyboard to help enter and edit formulae.

However, one can anticipate that it will be slow on complex analytics – as the memory & processing power of an iPad can’t really compete with that of Excel on a PC.

The iPad version of Powerpoint comes with a handy new feature too, useful when one is powering a presentation from the iPad: an inbuilt laser pointer that is activated by pressing the screen.
