The Challenge

Against the backdrop of ongoing change management challenges and associated industrial relations unease, Torc Consulting Group was commissioned to design and deliver a management development programme for a group of 225 managers, a key leadership cohort involved in implementing the necessary strategic imperatives set by the board.

Torc Response

Torc Group worked with internal HR to design a 5-day programme appropriate to the prevailing organisational needs. An integrated programme involving some highly facilitated thought-provoking discussions/exercises interspersed with direct business inputs from senior management was designed and rolled out in two modules, comprising a 3-day module followed by a 2-day module, with an intervening break of 6-weeks, wherein important cross-functional work-related projects were also completed. The specific learning dimensions included were:

  • Module One (3-day duration):
    Self-Awareness & Self-Management
    Situational Leadership
    Coaching Style of Management
  • Module Two (2-day duration)
    Change Management
    Emotional Intelligence
    Career Management

The Result

The entire intervention spanned a 12 month engagement with the organisation, immersing participants with the corporate leadership in learning the practical skills and attitudes needed to meet the changing commercial environment – and, resulting in a new and palpable enthusiasm for delivering on the corporate strategy.
