In response to feedback from clients, Torc Consulting Group were delighted to host a best practice seminar, titled Engaging Senior Management with Engagement at the Wood Quay Venue, Dublin, on Tuesday, 10th of May.

The seminar was organised to provide Senior Executives and Human Resources professionals with an opportunity to listen to practitioners presenting their experience in addressing the Employee Engagement Challenge and to examine best practice internationally.

Michael Stirling, former Human Resources Director, CRH, Products & Distribution (pictured above), delivered a very stimulating and thought-provoking presentation on Employee Engagement in Challenging Times.

He highlighted the true value of an engaged employee, focussing on some insighful case studies with contrasting outcomes – and presented his thoughts on how leadership style needs to change in order to build the engaged workforce.

Closing off his presentation, he shared his comprehensive 10 point checklist which he developed as a tool to guide engagement initiatives.

The second presentation was delivered by Clayton Glen – Chief Executive of HDA, a Human Capital Consultancy based in the UK, and Director of Career Net International, a global network of consulting organisations, of which Torc Consulting Group is the Irish partner.

Clayton looked at Best International Practice in Employee Engagement and also introduced highlights from his experience of acting as chairman at recent CIPD conferences on Employee Engagement in London and Manchester.

Areas of particular interest to attendees were Engagement Metrics and examples of best practice in a public sector organisation, a small enterprise and also a large multinational organisation

The final part of his presentation reflected on employee motivation and the ‘Facebook Generation, an area of rapidly growing interest.

During a Question & Answer session, attendees availed of the opportunity to discuss their own workplace challenges with both Michael and Clayton.

In his summing up of the seminar, Tony Roe, Director of Torc Consulting Group, drew attention to the recurring  theme highlighted – that employee engagement strategies need to be tailored to the specifics of each organisation and how a one size fits all approach was unlikely to be successful.
