This summer marked the timely launch by CIMA, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, of its new partnership with Torc to provide a programme of career support services for its 6000-strong membership in Ireland.
The programme involves the delivery of a series of bespoke group workshops and individual one-to-one coaching sessions to assist those CIMA members who may be facing individual career uncertainties during these recessionary times.
It is designed to provide participants with an array of due diligence tools for assessing and optimising the management of their individual careers in the face of these uncertainties.
The workshops are geared to satisfy the learning needs of participants seeking generic grounding in the key attributes of modern-day career management – involving instructional content on such topics as Job-search, CV’s, interviews, assessment centres, etc.
On the other hand, the one-to-one coaching sessions are designed around the specific needs of the individual where participants can choose from a menu of modules. This provides the opportunity for the individual to work with an experienced career coach on the specific elements of most relevance to his/her own particular situation.
The programme was formally launched on Tuesday, June 9th, 2009, at a meeting of over 100 CIMA members in the Alexander Hotel, Dublin, by CIMA’s Divisional Director in Ireland, Mr Denis McCarthy.
Also, in attendance on the evening was Torc’s Tom O’Connor, who presented an introductory seminar titled ‘Managing One’s Career Through a Time of Recession’.
